Exeter BJJ/Team Raphael Don Santos came 6th in the country at the Welsh No-gi Open last weekend. 3 members of the team competed bringing back 4 medals.

Competition Success and Belt Promotion

Following her storming of the Hereford Open 13 competition on June 24^th 2012 winning Gold in her division and Silver at absolute, Claire Crowther has been promoted to blue belt. Last weekend also saw some no-gi action with Rob Soanes and Adam Cracker both winning Gold medals at Spartan Grapple challenge 8.

Bournemouth Open Results

Another weekend has passed where Exeter BJJ students picked up medals in competition. Of the 4 members that competed at the Bournemouth BJJ Open 2012, 3 ended up on the winners’ podium! Although disappointment was present at no-one achieving Gold, everyone returned unhurt and with better knowledge of what they need to work on.

JUBILEE WEEKEND TRAINING

Due to the gym closing at 8pm on Public Holidays there will be an Open Mat 5-7pm Monday 4th June and NO TRAINING on Tuesday 5th June. Back to the normal schedule on Wednesday with no-gi at 8:15pm.

British Open Results

A few of our team made the trek to Birmingham over the weekend of the 19^th-20^th May to attend the prestigious BJJ British Open 2012 run by Braulio Estima. The competition was of a very high standard as it is one of the top competitions in the country with over 1200 competitors. Half of the team that competed medalled with Rob Soanes, Adam Cracker and Claire Crowther all achieving Bronze medals within their respective divisions.

Welsh Open Results

A small contingent of Exeter BJJ went up to Cardiff at the weekend to compete at the 2012 Welsh Open BJJ Championships. The team did well bringing back an assortment of medals.

Claire Crowther – Gold, Female White belt.
Rob Soanes – Silver, Heavy White belt
Chris Jones – Bronze, Middle Purple belt.

also despite not winning medals David Lindsay and Adam Cracker had excellent performances submitting numerous opponents, in very stacked divisions.

Tuesday Fundamentals

Tuesday classes (8:30-10pm) for the forseeable future will focus on the
fundamental techniques that underpin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This class
is ideal for beginners and more experienced grapplers looking to
perfect their technique.
